About Shankar UK – Terms & Conditions

General Terms

Shankar reserves the right to alter or modify the product or item reference information at any time in light of technical or other developments. All descriptions, specifications, images and particulars of weights, dimensions and materials have been given by way of identification only and the use of such information shall not constitute a sale by description.

As such, we request that our customers fully co-operate with these trading guidelines to create a sustainable selling environment for all concerned.

You are not allowed to make mention of our name in your marketing campaigns and we recommend that you re-brand each of the products procured so that you will achieve sales based on your own marketing/promotion, service levels and reputation. This includes re-naming the products and using your own descriptions.

Use of our product images is allowed exclusively only by customers who agree to comply with these trading guidelines. The ownership and copyright of all images supplied and/or used remains the property of and/or is solely licensed to Shankar (UK) LLP.

Images may not be used for any illegal, derogatory, libelous or otherwise damaging or misleading purpose. The images are not to be used to copy the designs of any of our products.

If you are using your own images, they must represent our products to a very high standard and to our complete satisfaction. Please seek confirmation.

We recommend a RRP guide for all our ranges as detailed in our price lists. The minimum RRP’s are intended as a guideline only and are applicable whether trading on the internet and/or in a physical retail outlet and should not be used in any form of marketing. The RRP should not be displayed with the selling price of the product.

Any promotions or offers would be notified separately along with any duration/validity period.

Placing of Orders

Orders can be placed via telephone, fax, email or post. All listed prices exclude VAT. We do not have a minimum order value, but a carriage fee is charged on all delivery orders under £550 plus VAT to mainland UK; £750 plus VAT to lower Scotland; and £1000 plus VAT to Scottish Highlands. This carriage fee will depend on your location and the quantity and type of items ordered. If the order is being shipped to your end user, a carriage fee applies regardless of order value.

Orders destined for the EU may be subject to VAT exemption; however a copy of your VAT registration certificate will be required to support this application. We also require shipping documents as proof that the goods have left the UK.

Terms of Payment

All orders are supplied on one of the following basis:

Proforma Invoice

Goods will leave our premises after cleared funds have reached our account. We accept the following payment methods:

  • Credit/Debit Card
  • BACS or internet banking transfer

We DO NOT accept cheques

To comply with current legislation, we cannot accept cash payments for order values over £10,000.

30-Day Account

Customers may apply for a 30 day account by completing our Credit Application Form – Credit checks are made to determine if an account can be offered. You will be contacted shortly after receipt of the account form to advise if your application has been successful. Overdue invoices may be subject to interest charged at 8% above the Barclays Bank base rate.

Terms for Container Orders

A 30% deposit is required upon placement of order. The remaining balance is to be paid when the goods are loaded (FOB). Deposits are taken on a non refundable basis. For late payments, we reserve the right to levy a daily interest charge.

Any manufacturing defects on container orders should be reported to our office within 3 months of receipt of goods.

Delivery & Collection Arrangements

We endeavour to deliver as soon as possible after receipt of order and payment, but stock availability and provisions of delivery services from external sources cannot be guaranteed. Please check current delivery times when placing your order.

We offer a variety of delivery services to mainland UK. If you require delivery to the Scottish Highlands, UK Islands, Northern Ireland or Republic of Ireland; please call to discuss your requirements.

Good stock that has been ordered and delivered cannot be returned for credit. We will refuse any products that appear to be non-faulty which have visible signs of use.

Courier Collections / 3rd Party Collections

Our sales office need to be aware that you are sending a courier to collect and will need the courier’s details. Please ensure the courier can quote your full company name and address in order to validate the collection and has adequate authority from you to collect on your behalf. Please also ensure that the courier is aware of our opening times.

Exchanges, Returns and Credits

All faults or missing pieces must be reported within 7 days of the invoice date in writing. Please ensure you include your order number and invoice number together with full details of the order and the fault(s) discovered. Product batch numbers must also be supplied together with photographic evidence of any potential fault(s).

All items must be returned in an unused, potentially re-saleable condition and in the original packaging. In the likely event that the replacement goods are despatched from our warehouse before your original item is returned to our premises, an invoice will be raised until the damaged/faulty item is returned to our warehouse. At this point, a credit will be raised, subject to satisfying conditions.

Should any item be found to have a manufacturing defect, a replacement item will be offered. The product will need to be returned to our warehouse for a replacement to be issued. Items should also be returned unused and in the original packaging.

Should any customer collected item appear to have a manufacturing defect, the faulty item must be returned to our warehouse at the customers own expense. If Shankar has arranged the initial delivery, then Shankar will arrange for collection of the faulty item to take place.

Shankar accept no liability for delivery damage caused to these products if the customer uses an inappropriate delivery service. Any returns will be thoroughly inspected and we regret that an exchange may not be provided if delivery damage is deemed to be the cause. Shankar can offer a suitable white glove delivery service. Please ask a member of the sales team for further information.
